Retreat for Metastatic Clients
♦ We were awarded our first CDC cooperative agreement grant for $360,000/year for 5 years to expand services for young women with breast cancer and young women with metastatic breast cancer.
♦ We launched our first Telephone Support Group to remove the barrier of transportation for those living in rural areas of our 5-county service area, ensuring anyone can easily access support.
♦ We were invited for the first time to present at MD Anderson’s 7th State of the Science Research Survivorship Symposium.
♦ We hired our first African-American Patient Navigator to expand services to this population.
♦ Art Bra® Austin 2019 was the most successful fundraiser in BCRC history, raising $682,000!
♦ BCRC Patient Navigators were awarded Outstanding Achievement by a Team, at the Breast Health Collaborative of Texas Summit.
♦ BCRC Patient Navigators facilitated two retreats – the first ever – for clients with metastatic breast cancer.
♦ We received grants from 3 new funders in 2019 – Moody Foundation, Austin Community Foundation and Lilly Oncology.
Looking forward to our 25th year of service to the breast cancer community in Central Texas, we have big plans!
♦ We will expand our services to young women with breast cancer and young women with metastatic breast cancer.
♦ We will increase outreach and education to the African-American community with the mission of improving mortality rates for Black women with breast cancer.
♦ We’ll begin using technology-based solutions for outreach, education and community connection.
♦ We will digitize our After Breast Cancer Course so that it is accessible to all.
♦ Our Navigators will receive training from Kitchen Table Conversations about how to discuss, decide and document end of life wishes.
♦ We will translate our Breast Cancer Companion and our After Breast Cancer Course into Spanish.
Doing all this, while serving 1,800 women and caregivers in need of guidance, education and assistance each year, is possible because of YOU. Your generosity inspires us to do more, be more and to serve more; to expand our services to ensure that no one in Central Texas ever faces breast cancer alone. With your support, we will continue to provide help and hope right here for the next 25 years!
Gratefully, Ray Anne Evans, Executive Director
