This presentation is designed to provide practical tips to help women with breast cancer cope with body image concerns that are likely to be part of the cancer experience. Dr. Fingeret discusses ways to talk to your healthcare team and your loved ones about body image concerns. In addition, she will highlight treatment strategies for coping with recent body changes and ways to promote greater long-term body image acceptance.

Dr. Michelle Fingeret is a licensed psychologist. She developed the only program of its kind in the United States focused on addressing body image issues for cancer patients through a combination of research, patient care activities and educational activities while on faculty at The University of MD Anderson Cancer Center. She helped create the first and only academic textbook on best practices and models of body image treatment in the oncology setting. Dr. Fingeret founded Fingeret Psychology Services (www.fingeretpsychologyservices.com) in 2017 to further her work in body image education and support for oncology healthcare professionals and cancer survivors.
