Laura Babineau, L.P.C., first came to ACGL as a client, then became a volunteer while pursuing her master’s degree in counseling from St. Edwards University. Prior to moving to Austin in 2006, Laura was a special education teacher in Vermont and Massachusetts, then worked in ministry before deciding to pursue a degree in counseling. Laura is a trained and experienced practitioner of EMDR, and has an extensive background in counseling individuals working through severe loss and trauma. She has an eclectic approach to counseling, drawing from several theoretical models including existential, narrative, parts work, and attachment theory. Laura’s personal experiences with grief have given her a deep belief in the strength, wisdom, and resilience of the human spirit, and in the personal growth that can come out of experiences with grief and trauma. She considers it an honor to walk beside her clients on their personal grief journeys. In her free time Laura is an avid reader, a guitar player, an enthusiastic cook, and a grateful wife and mother of two young men. She enjoys walking in Texas and hiking in her home state of Vermont.
